Duncan runs Kiko Feeds in Kisii Town. The business sells livestock feeds: hay, molasses, cottonseed cake, ochonga, rice germ and mineral salt blocks. In late 2025 he ordered a LUCTORC silage baler wrapper. This story follows that machine from its test at the factory to the day it was unpacked in Nairobi.
What the factory test shows
Before a machine ships, LUCTORC runs it at the factory with real material. The video shows one full cycle on Duncan's unit. Chopped material goes up the feed conveyor and is pressed into a round bale. The bale is tied in green net, dropped onto the wrapping table and turned while film is stretched around it until it is fully sealed.
The paper tag reading “Kenya Duncan Kisi” stays on the machine the whole time, so there is no doubt which order this is. At the end of the clip the machine is already covered and packed, with the same tag on the outside.
This is a factory test, not a farm trial. It shows the machine completing its cycle. It does not show output figures under Kisii conditions.
Packed for the journey
A baler wrapper is only useful if there is film to wrap with. Duncan's machine was strapped to a heavy timber pallet with the diesel engine and belt guard in place. Cartons of silage wrapping film were stacked around and on top of it, and an air compressor was packed on the same load.
Shipping it all together means the machine arrives with film ready to use, instead of the customer having to find film separately after it arrives.
Unpacked in Nairobi
On 20 April 2026 the crate was opened in a yard in Nairobi. The team took off the plywood sides and cut away the plastic wrapping. Then they unloaded the film cartons by hand so the load could be moved safely.
Onto the truck
A forklift lifted the machine onto a covered truck, and the film cartons were packed in next to it. Stock ships directly from the factory in China, so this is the first time Duncan's baler was handled in Kenya. It was loaded the same afternoon.
Duncan's business in Kisii
Kiko Feeds is based at Kikoville Pavilion Building in Kisii Town and is open Monday to Saturday. It sells feed for cattle, goats and poultry. A baler wrapper fits a feed business like this well: forage that is pressed and sealed in film keeps its quality and can be stored, moved and sold by the bale.
What comes next
We are documenting Duncan's journey as it actually happens. We don't have photos from Kisii yet. When Duncan shares pictures of his baler at work, we will add them to this page, with only what really happened.
